Bio:
I create zany, dream-like digital collages with my favorite
tool, Adobe Photoshop. I research topics and then juxtapose my own
photographs and paintings with vintage graphics from old magazines
and publications to create new realities and make comments on popular
culture. My goal is to entice the viewer into the piece through amusement,
and then, subtly, challenge them with an underlying complex or sober
comment.
I grew up on a small island in Narragansett Bay, Rhode
Island which has influenced my artwork. Ocean images are prevalent
in my work as well as religious and cultural icons from my childhood.
For many years I painted abstract landscapes in oils and watercolor,
but now find I can better express myself and my vision digitally on
the computer. I currently teach graphic design at Hesser College in
NH, and have an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College,
Plainfield VT.
